The Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists was founded in April 2004.

Our goals are to promote equality and opportunity for Hispanics in the newsroom and the classroom.

We offer scholarships for journalism students as well as continuing education and networking opportunities for working journalists and public relations professionals.

We try to hold monthly meetings or events throughout the Rio Grande Valley in order to create visibility for Hispanic journalists in the community.
